Grow lesson: Topping.

Topping allows you to increase the bushiness of your plant, keeping it shorter and thicker, not tall and tree like.
It also allows you to increase your number of main colas, thus increasing yield.

To top a plant, you wait until you get your plant past its 5th node. Some do it sooner. You wait until the young growth for the next node appears, and you cut it off with clean sheers at a 45degree angle. This stops growth from the main stem and forces branch growth.
